Mangalore, 17 July 2012: A Kannada book on Human Rights was released on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 5 pm in St. Aloysius College Auditorium.
The chief speaker on this occasion was Ezzat Ahmed Aslam, National Secretary of Zamat-i-Islam- Hind. He said that in many of the cases human rights have been violated by Government officials and law enforcing agencies. Speaking further he said that the central government should compensate the families of the victims of human rights violation. He pointed out that all the sections of the society should be treated equally while enforcing law.
Principal of SDM College of Law, B.K. Ravindra in his address said that most of the people are unaware of human rights Laws and said further that there is a need to educate people in human rights.
Human Rights Activist, Natesh Ullal explained the content of the book saying that the book contained very important information which should help every person in understanding his or her rights. Besides, he also said the book would help even the law enforcing agencies. Further, he said that if human rights are not protected there is a possibility of many becoming victims of human rights violation.
Many in the audience purchased the book costing Rs.100 at the concessional rate of Rs 80.
