Udupi, 18 June 2012: The Kerala State Road Transport buses running in our state are exploiting the passengers. Karnataka State Government Retired Employees Udupi Sangha Secretary Shrinivasa Shetty Thonse has informed regarding his bitter experience on this matter. Thonse had travelled the distance of 34 kilometer from Kundapura to Udupi in Kerala State Road Transport bus paying Rs. 42. This is not charged illegally, a computerized ticket for this amount has been issued.
In our state transport buses the charges from Kundapura to Udupi is Rs. 29 and in private buses they charge Rs. 32. But the Kerala State Road Transport is charging Rs 42. If asked they will say that, ‘this is not new, we have been charging this amount from a long time’, says Thonse.
When petrol and diesel prices are increasing the govt and private bus fares will be increased. Some people say that the rates in Kerala is less than that of Karnataka. But seeing the fare of Kundapura to Udupi Thonse doubts whether the rates in Kerala are more than in Karnataka.
