Pamboor, 05 April 2012: Maundy Thursday - also called Holy Thursday, is the beginning of the three day celebration of - the most important time in the year for Christians. This period is one big celebration, remembering the last supper, the crucifixion and the death of Jesus, and the Resurrection to new life.
Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles.The ceremony started at 5pm.Rev.Fr.Charles Lewis was the main celebrant of the Eucharistic Mass accompanied by Fr.Dancy Martis. Fr.Dancy Martis in his sermon described that Jesus made many things for the betterment of mankind. He healed many people. However, the greatest gift he gave to the mankind was his own flesh and blood and the same is celebrated in every holy mass. Telling about the priests. He also highlighted the importance of priesthood in the church.
Following the sermon, Rev.Fr.Charles Lewis washed the feet of 12 Gurkars representing 12 wards.
After the Mass, the Sacrament of Eucharist was taken in procession to the Altar of Repose followed by the Adoration Hour. The liturgical service ended at 7 pm.
