Manipal, 03 April 2012: On behalf of the District’s Karnataka Minority Nigam 2011 – 12 Christian Community development project, the cheque distribution ceremony was held in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Sunday. Under the Shramashakti scheme 201 candidates were issued each Rs. 25,000 to a total of rupees 75.25 lakhs, under mini loan scheme 148 candidates from 10 self employment associations were issued rupees 14.80 lakhs and under knowledge – education loan scheme 17 candidates were issued 5.15 lakhs, so all together total 466 candidates were issued with the cheques worth total rupees 95.20 lakhs.
Nigama President Aboobaker spoke and said that, since the last 3 years and 10 months the state government has implemented various schemes worth rupees 244.76 crore for 1,46,472 beneficiary minority candidates.
Distributing the cheques Udupi – Chickmagalur MP K. Jayaprakash Hegde spoke and said that, instead of implementing too many schemes with less grant, the value of each unit scheme if increased, it will benefit the candidates, he suggested to the Nigama. He also called upon the candidates to make proper use of the schemes provided by the government.
On this occasion a new district office in ‘A’ block was formally inaugurated by Jilla Panchayath President Katpadi Shankara Poojary. The program was presided over by MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat. Chief guests present in the program were Coastal Development Authority President Nagaraj Shetty, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon and Taluk Panchayath President Devdas Hebbar.
Jilla Panchayath Chief Administrative Officer Prabhakara Sharma, Christian Development Authority Members Gladis Almeida, Jerald Fernandes, State Haj Committee Member Salim Ambagilu, District Waqf President T.S. Budan Basha and Walter Pinto were present on the occasion. District Organizer Shridhara Bhandary welcomed the guests and the gathering.
