Shirva, 28 March 2012: Shirva St. Mary’s P.U. College 1st year Student Varalaxmi R. Shetty (17 years) who was the winner in Bharathanatya, Music, Harmonium, Writing, Essay competitions, multi talented, passed away on Monday night due to lungs cancer.
Daughter of youth leader, social worker Kollabettu Ravindra Shetty and Sukanya R. Shetty couple, though she knew about the sickness while she was in 8th standard itself, with determination and enthusiasm Varalaxmi had scored 82% marks in S. S.L.C. exams. In the ‘Kids Can’ essay competitions held in Delhi she wrote her feelings on cancer and bagged the first prize and brought fame to Shirva.
To this student who died during the exams period, the community, College Management and the Teachers had a condolence meeting and offered Shradhanjali. In respect of this talented girl the businessmen of Shirva town closed their business and offered Shradhanjali. Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, Various Associations, Heads of Education, People’s Representatives had participated in the last rights.
