Udupi, 21 February 2012: In the earlier days we had Gandhiji to alert us, but today who is there to alert you today? this is the question asked with sadness by Jnanapeeta awardee Dr. Chandrashekar Kambara to the students of the college. He was speaking upon receiving the honour during the Addual Day celebrations of Poorna Prajna College Udupi, where he had worked as lecturer in his early days.
Speaking further he said that, today we have forgotten our national culture and have become sheeps and among us there are tigers of foreign culture wearing the costume of the sheep. The will eat us, but before that we have to wake up and must embrace our culture, he alerted the students.
The government is performing irresponsibly, they think that giving the cultivating land to the multinational companies is development and for the sake of the petty tax money the government is ready to give our land, water, road all to them. But instead, the government is not asking them to give the employment to the youths.
Therefore, the young generation must find their own way out of this and the inferior complexity rooted by the British has to be casted out and preserve our self-respect, he said. On this occasion Adamaru Education Group President Adamaru Mutt’s Shree Vishwapriya Theertha honoured and blessed Dr. Kambara.
College Management Committee Hon. Secretary Dr. G.S. Chandrashekara welcomed the guests and the gathering. College Principal K. S. Sadashiva Rao, Student Leader Cresel Samantha Luice, Thretha Mahesh Shenoy, Vignesh Aythal and Madhusoodana were on the dias. StudentsAkshaya Acharya and Anusha compeered the program. Dr. Madhavi Bhandary proposed vote of thanks.
