Pamboor, 16 February 2012: The Parish Associations of the Pamboor Holy Cross Church; Catholic Sabha, Sthree Sanghatane, ICYM and St. Vincent Paul Society, jointly celebrated the “Senior Citizens Day” on Wednesday 15th February 2012, in the Church Hall, in a meaningful way. After the prayers, the elders were honoured with a memento. Speaking on the occasion, entrepreneur Norbert Machado said that, the way our elders have brought us up with the Indian culture, has made it possible for the families to stay united and be the best in the world.
Rev. Fr. Charles Luis in his speech said that, the contributions of our elders through their hard work has brought us into the progressive life today. It is our duty to make a provision for them to spend their last days in happiness, peace and satisfaction and receive their blessings. Various competitions were held for the elders and prizes were distributed. The associations conducted various entertainment programs.
The program was presided over by President of Catholic Sabha Naveen Quadros. Laveena Sequeira of Sthree Sanghatane welcomed the guests and the gathering. On the dias, Church Pastoral Council Vice President Fredrick Menezes and Secretary Jesintha D’Souza were present. Marlin D’Almeida coordinated the cultural program. Former Vice President of Church Pastoral Council Lucas D’Souza compeered the program. Catholic Sabha Secretary John D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.
