Shirva, 26 January 2012: The rural area which brings highest revenue to the telephone department is partly inactive since about 2 – 3 weeks in Shirva Masjid, Attinje, Kodu, Panjimaru, Bantakal, Manipadi areas and more than one thousand consumers are without connection. In Shirva Telephone Exchange there is no Jr. Engineer from few months and there is no proper coordination among the staff.
The complaints given by telephone are never registered in the books. The internet connection if works for one day, then the next three days it does not work, which makes the consumers struggle. Since the mobile phones are available the use of land line is reduced, but the daily business is taking place through internet, hence the consumers who depend on it are helpless.
Besides this, as the widening of road works, drainage gutter works by the Jilla Panchayath Lokopayogi department are taking place and the underground telephone cables have got cut by the construction machineries, who is responsible for this…? Here, due to the lack of coordination between these two departments the consumer has to suffer.
The same situation was in Kutyaru grama consumers few months ago. There while joining the water pipelines, the connection cables were cut. This has been a challenge to the efficiency of workmanship and skill of the Department Officers, Supervisors and workers. The consumer has to pay heavily for the irresponsibility of these departments. How many more days the consumer has to wait…? Do not know…..?
