Mangalore, 02 May 2010: ’Aahar,’ city’s first ever International Food Carnival, was inaugurated at the Kadri Park here offering delicious and yummy dishes to citizens.
The carnival being organised by the Dakshina Kannada Hotels and Restaurants Association (DKHRA) was inaugurated by Mangalore South MLA N Yogish Bhat. Speaking after inaugurating the carnival, Bhat said that the government will provide necessary support, if hotel industrialists came forward with tourism projects.
He said that there are ample opportunities for tourism development through hotel industry in Mangalore. The traditional dishes of Mangalore can be introduced to foreigners through tourism projects, he added. Speaking on the occasion, Bharath Petroleum Area Manager Kurian Peter said that Mangalore is an ideal location for food carnivals.
The city has all the potential to host International food carnivals, he added. Various hotels and restaurants put up their stalls serving their own special delicacies to visitors. Stalls of Gateway, Bombay Lucky, Pallkhi, Maharaja, Goldfinch, Janatha Deluxe, Shreya Sweets, Utsav, Hanuman Sweets, Komal’s, Sasural, Mothi Mahal, Royal Darbar, Gajalee, Chefs, Hao Ming, Tajmahal, Karthik, Shivsagar, Dinky Dine, Bhagava Caterers, Kakunje and Pepsi offered various tasty eatables and drinks. The carnival will be open for public till May 2 between 4 pm and 9 pm.
Zilla Panchayat President Santhosh Kumar Bhandary was the chief guest. DKHRA President Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy Corporation Bank Deputy General Manager Suresh Shenoy and Bruhat Bengaluru Hotels’ Association President Vasudeva Adiga were present.
