Udupi, 18 November 2011: The government will be giving the HIV positive children Rs. 800 monthly allowance which is Rs. 9,600 per year which will be given up to 18 years of age. In our district 55 male and 47 female children are suffering from HIV. For the first allowance already the list is submitted to the government and in very few days the amount will be credited to the account of the children, said Jilla Panchayath Chief Administrative officer L.A. Prabhakara Sharma.
He was speaking upon inaugurating the Children’s day celebrations, which was jointly organized by the Karnataka State Aids Prevention Society and District Administration. They gathered all the HIV positive children from various parts of the district and conducted this program.
The program was presided over by District Aids Control and Implementation Officer Dr. H. Ashok. Chief Guests present in the program were District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ramachandra Bayari, Lions District Governor Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Veena Shetty of Jeevana Sangharsha Association and News Officer M. Junjanna. Unisef Chief Prof. Shripathi G. welcomed the guests and the gathering. Shashiprabha compeered the program.
