Udupi, 12 November 2011: In our country the maximum number of deaths occur due to accidents. In the first hour after the accident due to severe bleeding of the blood, most of the deaths take place. In the world all kinds of researches have been done, but there is no alternative for blood could be found. Therefore, the blood we donate will save somebody’s life, said Udupi District Superintendent of Police Dr. Y. S. Ravikumar.
He was speaking upon inaugurating the blood donation camp and offering flower bouquets to the Martyrs on the occasion of the Forest Martyrs day. The blood donation camp was jointly organized by Karnataka State Sub Zone Forest Officers Association Udupi and Udupi District Government Hospital Blood Bank Centre.
General public usually think that those who are in the government service are not active. So the government employees should be an example with this kind of program and should come forward voluntarily, said Dr. Ravikumar. Among the population if 10% of the people donate blood then we can fulfill the shortage of blood, he said.
In the program the Hon. President of Karnataka State Sub Zone Forest Officer’s Association A.M. Yogishwar who has donated blood for 25 times has been honoured. Also the sponsor of the program K.K. Harikrishna was felicitated. P. Shridhar, A.A. Gopal, Raju marakala and Ganapathi Nayak of Forest Department were congratulated.
The program was presided over by Karnataka State Sub Zone Forest officer’s Association Udupi Division President Bhaskar K. The Chief Guests of the program Kundapura Division Sub Forest Officer Ganesh Rai, District Surgeon H. Anand Nayak were present. Jayaprakash welcomed the Guests and the gathering and also compeered the program. Prakashchandra proposed vote of thanks.
