Mangalore, 04 Oct 2011: In Boys, Top seeded Arjun Adappa and Yasha Samaga B L are in the joint lead after 3 rounds in the Boys category in the Karnataka state under 14chess championship being organized by King’s Academy, Mangalore on behalf of Karnataka State Chess Association (affiliated to Chess Association of India, Lucknow) being held at Derik’s Chess School, Mangalore.
They are closely followed by Akhil RM, Shreyas Pandith, Abhishek Bhat and Under 10 champion Anutthama A with 2.5 points. In 3rd round, Yashas Samaga clinched a surprise win against second seeded Dhrikshu Vasanth.
There are still 4 rounds to be played in this 7 round swiss league Championship.
In Girls, Top seeded Reesha Shenoy and second seeded Prerna Rai are in the joint lead with 3 points each.
Yogitha Naik delivered a surprise victory against Under 10 Girls Champion Manasa Karanth in the 2nd round. However she failed to repeat the show against Reesha Shenoy in the 3rd round.
Two more rounds will be played in the 5 round swiss league for Girls.
Top two players in each category will be selected to represent Karnataka in the CAI’s National Under 14 chess championship.
