Udupi, 23 September 2011: In a press conference held on Thursday, Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Bheemavada) State Union Convener Udayakumar Tallur said that, in the recent meeting at D.C. office on the issues of the Dalits, some Dalits who are government employees participated, which is illegal, but there was no action taken against them. For not taking action on them the complaint has been made against the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, to the Chief Secretary, he said.
The officers – government employees have to work as per the Public Service rules under 1966. As per this the government employees should not give any statements to the media without the permission of their Superiors. But still many employees of the Bank and government department had participated in the meeting and made disturbances and even tried for assault. With this the meeting on the issues of Dalits got cancelled and deprived a opportunity to Dalits. Therefore, the complaint has been given to their superiors in Banks and departments about the violation of the rules, he said.
Speaking further he also said that, he has sued Dalit Samiti Jilla convener Jayan Malpe for accusing him in the meeting. I am ready for any enquiry. If proved wrong I will leave the Association, but if not proved then Jayan has to apologize in public, he said. In the press conference Dalit Samiti (B) leaders Chandra Malpe, Purandara, Shekara Havanje, Krishna Altar and others were present.
Ready for the fight – Jayan Malpe
Dalit Samiti Jilla convener Jayan Malpe has said in a press statement that he is ready to fight any complaints made by Udayakumar Tallur. Instead of fighting against the roguery taking place on Dalits, he is accusing those who are raising the voice. He does not even know that the Dalit law does not apply on the government employees, he said.
