Koppal, 10 September 2011: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa was seen distributing currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination to voters while campaigning for the BJP candidate in the byelection, in Koppal on Friday.
Deccan Herald photographer snapped the pictures of Yeddyurappa distributing money from his pocket to a man in the crowd, while campaigning in favour of Karadi Sanganna.
A case has been registered in the city police station against him for violating the model code of conduct under the Representation of the People Act and the Indian Penal Code.
Minister for Animal Husbandry Revu Naik Belamagi was also booked for the violation of poll code.
A report has been submitted to the Central Election Commission of India on Belamagi, who used official vehicle to campaign for Sanganna on September 9. Belamagi had stopped his vehicle at a dabha, 15 km from Koppal.
On noticing the vehicle, poll observers had asked the driver to follow them to the city. But the driver picked up the minister near Hospet without following their instruction.
The poll observers submitted a report to the CEC, said Deputy Commissioner Tulasi Maddineni.
