It is heartening to know that right from the top position in the country and at various levels, more than fifty per cent of women have proved themselves to be efficient and hardworking. The time may not be far away when men might have to struggle for reservation in various fileds.”, said M. Gokuldas, the Udupi Municipal Commissioner while inaugurating the ‘Shri Durga Mahila Chende Balaga’ in the hall of Shri Durga temple at Bantakal.
The programme was inaugurated by the Trustee of the temple, P. Vishwanatha Nayak by formally lighting the lamp. During this occasion, the teacher of the Chende, Marpalli Subramanya Upadhyaya and the PUC merit student, Kum. Kalavati who scored 95 per cent marks were felicitated.
The programme was presided over by Shashidhar Wagle, President of the Temple Administration Committee. President of the Mahila Sangha, Mrs. Geeta Wagle welcomed the gathering. Founder President, Mrs. Leelavati L. Patkar was present on the dais. Mrs. Rohini J. Nayak introduced the guests; Mrs. Arundati Prabhu compeered the programme and Secretary Mrs. Bhavani Nayak proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was also attended by K. Ramaraya Patkar, President of Rajapura Saraswata Youth Associaiton,Retired Headmaster, B.R. Prabhu and M.B. Nayak.
