Kaup, 16 August 2011: Kaup Vidyaniketana Group of Education and Kaup Rotary, led the beach cleaning program on Monday and thus celebrated the Independence day in a special way. Inaugurating the beach cleaning program Udupi Coastal Protection Troop Chief Officer H.D. Mendonsa said that, the educational Institutions should make efforts to have awareness among the students on the protection of our environment.
Kaup Educational Institutions Correspondent K.P. Acharya presided over the program and said that the special nature of environmental protection is to be taught to children by the parents from their very young age. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were; Coastal Protection Troop Inspector Gangireddy, S.I. Jayaram, Kaup Rotary President Sadashiva Bhat, Kaup Inner Wheel President Sushma Arus, Rotary Former President U. Anantha Padiyaru, Raghu Poojary, Shrinivas Rao, Balakrishna Acharya and Vidyaniketana P.U. College Principal Krishna Rao. In the inaugural program Sadashiva Bhat welcomed. Prof. V.K. Udyavara gave a introductory speech. Vidyadhar Puranik proposed vote of thanks.
Under the Supervision of Kaup Educational Institutions Correspondent K.P. Acharya, more than 500 Students, Teachers and Members of Rotary Club cleaned the beach from morning to noon and became an example. Kaup beach which is a popular tourist spot, gets more and more tourists visiting day by day and the garbage dumping also increases. Plastic bottles, bags, polythene packs and such items about one load garbage was collected on Monday and disposed. Though the beach cleaning work of the beautiful Kaup beach is supposed to be regularly done by the Kaup Panchayath, unfortunately that is not happening and the beach gets filled with garbage.
