Mangalore, 27 July 2011: The city will soon accomplish the envious position of 24 hours water supply, said Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Dr K N Vijayprakash. The energy saving initiatives of MCC is in full swing and the same will be decided in the Council general body meeting.
In the waste management technology also, Mangalore is creating its own mark, he said and added that the technical and financial bid for the Solid Waste Management will be called soon. He was speaking during the commemoration of Kargil Vijay Divas organised by Centre for Integrated Learning (CIL). “Mangalore is the third fastest growing city in South India.
Soon it will be one of the important urban agglomeration in the country,” said the Commissioner. On the occasion, he also felicitated veteran war heroes.
He said the services of soldiers are invaluable to the nation and the youngsters should take a lesson from them and should contribute to the development of nation.
Veteran war heroes Colonel N S Bhandari, Brigadier I N Rai, Wing Commander D R Belle and Lt Commander G P Mascarenhas were felicitated on the occasion.
After the felicitation, cultural programmes were presented by the Navaras Hobby Dancers’ Club. The anniversary of CREST (Creating Resource to Empower Society Today), a part of CIL, was also celebrated during the occasion.
