Udyavara, 20 June 2011: Sea erosion gets severe at Udyavara Padukare and the concrete road is in danger. The sea has already extended until the road due to erosion and the rocks and sand bags which were placed temporarily have all become part of the sea. Since the preventive work was not immediately started, the sea waves are hitting the shore and the erosion is happening here and there. The sea erosion which has begun all of a sudden in the initial stage of rainy season, looks like going to take away the fisheries roads, houses and even the light poles.
Even in the last year the Padukare road was destroyed with the erosion, but it was just repaired by filling soil only and was not concreted. This time further ahead even the existing concrete road also seems like getting damaged. Though this road is damaged in just couple of rains, there has been no preventive action taken so far and no permanent solution has been actioned so far, complain the local people.
Udyavaera Padukare and Kanakoda Padukare residents are scared of the erosion even in this rainy season also and unable to find a way of solution for this. The residents have urged to build a permanent protection wall to prevent the erosion in this area.
