Shirva, 11 May 2011: For the welfare of the people of the Karnataka State a Athirudrayaga was organized at the Shri Parashurma Temple at Kuthyar near Shirva under the leadership of A.S. Nityananda, the former Mimamsaka of the Veda Vijnana mandira of Chikmagalur on Monday, May9, 2011. Along with the Chief Minister of Karnataka-B.S. Yeddyurappa, a number of politicians and government officials attended this religious function.
The Chief Minister who had reached Kuthyar at 7.15 am along with the party leaders, local MPs and MLAs and ministers including the Power Minister-Shobha Karandlaje offered ‘Poornahuthi’ along with the officials.There were 12 Homakundas in which more than 5,000 devotees offered ‘Poornahuthi’. The Athirudrayaga that was in progress continuously for five days ended on Monday, May 9, 2011. Thousands of people irrespective of caste and religion participated in the ‘Annasantarpane’ following the ‘Athirudrayaga’.
