Vittal, 18 April 2011: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said that the State government has been giving special emphasis to the conservation and renovation of temples in the State. A sum of Rs one crore will be released for the construction of the new dining hall and a hall at Sri Mahishamardini temple at Punacha.
Speaking after laying foundation stone for the dining hall and hall at Sri Mahishamardini temple, he said the State government aims at providing basic facilities in every village. The new dining hall and a hall will be constructed at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore. Karnataka stands first in the implementation of law and order and utilisation of finance.
He said the State government will not do any injustice to the farmers with regard to Kumki land.
Support price
The State government will take a decision on support price to arecanut after holding discussion with the central government.
Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje promised to set up a sub station at Kuddupadavu near Vittal to provide quality electricity to the region.
Sullia
Speaking at arecanut growers convention at Sullia, the Chief Minister said that measures will be taken to legalise kumki, baane, and kana land owned by the farmers.
“Farmers should not be denied of facilities at any cost. I will bring in amendment to act to provide rights to the farmers over kumki, kana, baana land. None will be allowed to touch farmers,” he said.
The research to find a solution to yellow leaf disease affecting arecanut in under progress, Yeddyurappa said.
“Farmers are given financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to promote agriculture. The package will be applicable to arecanut as well. The first installment of Rs 5,000 will be paid in May and the next installment in August.”
Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje said a cabinet sub committee has been constituted to look into the issue of kumki land. District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and others were present.
Rs 25 cr to develop Sullia roads
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said that a sum of Rs 25 crore will be released to develop rural roads in Sullia. A sum of Rs 65 crore will be provided for the Jasloor-Subrahmanya road and Rs one crore for the construction of dining hall and kitchen at Sullia Channakeshava temple.
