- 10 lakh women to get monetary aid by 2013: CM
Chikmagalur, 14 November 2010: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has announced free education till degree for Bhagyalakshmi beneficiaries on the whole.
Distributing sarees to the mother of the scheme beneficiaries and distributing the bonds at district stadium on Sunday, the CM said that saree distribution programme is not intended to get any political gains. “I want every girl child born in economically backward family to grow up to be educated, healthy and self-dependent women. That is the only aim of the programme,” he said adding that so far he had been urging the parents to make their girl children complete SSLC but henceforth he would urge the parents to ensure that their girl children complete degree courses.
“Mid-day meals, free uniform, books, text books, scholarship and even cycles have been provided by the government. Every girl child has to be empowered through education. This is the aim of our Government,” he said.
He said that the government will have various programmes in future to make women independent. As many as 10 lakh economically backward women will be provided monetary aid through Self Help Groups till 2013. CM promised to announce retirement age for Anganwadi workers and provide pension facilities too.
Stating that the BJP led state government is sound and stable, the CM said that he will bring in such reforms in administration that even the opposition will be forced to laud his efforts. “I will bring in a model government which gives priority to overall development of the state,” he said.
Women, responding to the call of the CM, took oath that they will educate their children.
