Udupi: St John’s High School, Shankerpura celebrate 37th Founders Day

Udupi, 19 Jun 2018: St John’s High School, Shankerpura, near here, celebrated 37th Founders Day in their parish hall on Monday, June 18.
St John’s education institutions correspondent and Shankerpura parish priest Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves garlanded the portrait of founder Fr G B D’Souza, acknowledging his leadership and efforts of their parish community.
The School headmaster Mohandas R Shetty, in his preliminary address explained the journey of school since the beginning till now.
The retired head teacher and parish council secretary Clara Mendonca acknowledged the relentless efforts of people who helped in securing aided status from state education department.
The retired teacher and journalist Pundalika Marate explained the state of Kannada medium schools that are threatened to shut down. He urged the students to Kannada dailies and literature.
The retired headmaster John Lobo, parish council vice president Mark Vaz, PTA president Nagesh Amin, alumni association president Sylvia Castelino and Anita D’Souza were present at the dais.
The teacher Inet D’Sa welcomed the gathering. The teacher Asumpta D’Mello proposed vote of thanks.
