Mangaluru: ZP president sets deadline of March to achieve target of state housing

Mangaluru, 22 Jan 2018: Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president Meenakshi Shantigodu advised the department officers to provide housing to homeless families in the limits of gram panchayats, as there are more demands for state housing under different schemes in Dakshina Kannada district.
Meenakshi was speaking during KDP monthly review meeting held at ZP Netravati auditorium, here, on Monday, January 22.
The officials said that they have a target of 8300 homes, out of which 4566 houses are already handed over to beneficiaries, and the remaining 3734 houses are under construction.
Meanwhile, Meenakshi advised the officials to complete the remaining houses by March 2017.
Meenakshi presented a cheque of Rs 50,000, as compensation drawn from district corpus Fund, to Umesh Poojary and Janardhan Poojary who were drown in quarry at Boliyar in Bantwal taluk.
ZP health and steering Committee chairman Shahul Hameed, ZP deputy secretary M V Nayak, ZP vice president Kasturi Panja and department officials were present.
