Mangaluru: DC Sasikant urges political parties to cooperate in election process

Mangaluru, 17 Jan 2018: At the backdrop of forthcoming legislative assembly elections in Karnataka, the preliminaries have already begun. All political parties got to co-operate with district administration in this regard, said Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sasikant Sentil.

 

DC Sasikant was addressing the gathering of all party representatives at his office, here, on Tuesday, January 16.

 

 

The Election Commission (EC) of India is committed to hold forthcoming legislative assembly elections free and without fear. Each political party has to appoint a representative to deal with district administration in this regard. The circulars and advices that are issued by EC from time to time will be passed on to the parties through their representatives, said DV Sasikant.

 

He also said, ‘In the forthcoming legislative assembly elections, V V Plot will be used in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs); that would confirm the voter of casting his franchisee to his choice of candidate. It would display it for 2 seconds and goes off. It would clear the doubt of voter, said DC Sasikant.

 

The voters can add their names, change or rectify mistakes in the voters list till January 22. The voters and political parties got to thoroughly view the voters list that would save chaos on Election Day, added DC Sasikant. He also urged the booth level officers to attend the grievances on voting list or face stern action.

 

The political parties got to minimize displaying banners and buntings in public places to avoid any untoward incidents. It would save the election expenditure of political parties and their candidates, said DV Sasikant.

 

Single window counter will be provided to approve poll campaign, said DC.
