Udupi: Kalattur parishioners felicitate Konkani celebrity actor Ester Noronha

Udupi, 07 Dec 2017: Fr Lawrence B D’Souza, parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Succor, Kalattur, near here, felicitated celebrity actor Ester Noronha, who visited the parish to attend annual feast, on Wednesday, December 6.

 

Ester’s parents Charles and Janet Noronha were also present.

 

 

Sophia, Konkani movie with lead actor Ester was screened on the same occasion.

 

Ester is a postgraduate in political science. She is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, theater artiste and singer. She had acted in sandalwood, Telugu, Tulu and Konkani movies. Her father hailing from Shankerpur, near here, worked in Bahrain customs, while her mother Janet hails from Madantyar in Beltangady deanery.

 

She expressed her deep concern over Konkani community that has become rich in petrodollars but disregarded mother tongue Konkani and its distinct culture. She hopes to reverse the situation focusing on youth by visual media. She has done her mite by acting in Konkani blockbuster movies, Noshibacho Khel and Sophia in this regard.
