Govt High School, Sooda selected for National Swaccha Vidyalaya Award

Karkala, 22 Aug 2017: The state-run school in a rural area that comes under the jurisdiction of Belman gram panchayat, near here, has been chosen by union human resources department to confer coveted National Award for Cleanliness. The state-run school Sooda High School, near here, was chosen to confer the award.
Sooda High School is one among 8 schools in Karnataka chosen to confer Swaccha Vidyalaya Award and only in Udupi district.
The school lies in a pristine location near historically famous Subramanya temple, Shirva – Pilarkana – Palli Road in the limits of Belman gram panchayat, near here. The school has eco-club and other associations to promote cleanliness and hygiene among the students. The students are mentored by teachers to segregate solid waste and degenerative waste, using tap water, cleaning hands etc.
The school has student strength of 40, and teachers who are committed for cleanliness and hygiene.

The conferring of Award will be held at Raj Bhavan, New Delhi, on September 1. The school head master, one teacher and 2 students are entitled to be present during the award ceremony.
The school headmaster Ritesh Shetty expressed happiness over choosing a school that lies in a remote village to confer the award for cleanliness and hygiene.
