Mangaluru: Wenlock Hospital to be upgraded with 1,000-bedded hospital – MLA Lobo

Mangaluru, 26 Jul 2017: The state-run District Wenlock Hospital has been upgraded by the state administration to be regional hospital from this year and released Rs 10 crore for infrastructural development, said hospital development Committee chairman MLA J R Lobo.
Addressing the media persons, here, on Tuesday, July 25, MLA Lobo said, ‘The state administration had earlier released Rs 5 crore for infrastructural development and further released Rs 10 crore after upgrading the status,’ said MLA Lobo.
The upgraded hospital will have additional of 200 beds that will make 1000-bedded hospital. The engineering division is in the process of constructing additional building, added MLA Lobo.
AYUSH department has submitted a proposal for a plot in Wenlock Hospital for 50-bedded composite hospital, while the plot lying vacant in front of logistics at the hospital was earmarked for this purpose, explained MLA Lobo.
The pediatric hospital in RAPCC will be upgraded just like Indira Gandhi Children’s Health Centre, Bengaluru, while the state administration has released Rs 3 crore in this regard. Out of Rs 3 crore; Rs 1 crore will be utilized to buy equipments, Rs 2 for building, medicines, consumables and maintenance expenses, said MLA Lobo.
