Monsoon intensifies; ADC instructs officials to prepare for nature’s fury

Mangaluru, 14 Jun 2017: As the monsoon has picked up momentum since a few days, Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Kumar, here, on Monday, June 12, instructed the officials to keep the control room that was opened in all taluks of Dakshina Kannada district operational around the clock.
Addressing the officials related to disaster control, during the meeting held at his office, here on Monday morning, he advised the officials to respond to monsoon related calls of general public at the earliest.
He advised the officials to keep vigil on low lying areas along the river and flood-prone areas. He instructed to make a list of huge trees located on roads that are likely to uproot threatening road users.
The Tahsildars were given authority to announce holiday to schools, if in case of torrential rains. The home guards need to work around the clock at key beaches in district. The financial assistance has been allotted to fire brigade to buy essential equipments in this regard. The compensation for rain fury to be sanctioned to the household families, said ADC Kumar.
The municipal commissioner Mohammed Nazir, assistant commissioner Renuka Prasad and different department officials were present.
