Alma Mater donates school bus to St Joseph’s School

Karkala, 05 Jun 2017: The alumni association of century-old St Joseph’s School, Belman, near here donated a school bus @ Rs 16.40 lac to their education institution, here, on Friday, Jun 2.
The alma mater president Xavier D’Mello and honorary president Gregory Menezes handed over the key of the school bus during a simple function held at the school premises to St Joseph’s group of education institutions new correspondent and Belman parish priest Fr Edwin D’Souza, here, on Friday morning.
Belman former parish priest Fr Sunil Joseph Veigas held the prayer service and lauded the contribution of alma mater in nurturing growth at the institutions.
Belman assistant parish priest Fr Joswin Praveen D’Souza was present.
Speaking on the occasion, Xavier said that alma mater had always contributed in the infrastructural development of the school for the betterment of students. Meanwhile, there are plans to donate one more school bus for the students living in far of places.
The retired teacher Kodimaru Vittal Tantri, Belman parish council vice president Alwyn Ageira, secretary Faustine D’Souza, alma mater vice president Francis D’Souza, NITK retired Professor Robert D’Souza, Rocky D’Silva, Vincent Pinto, convent superior Sr Usha Stella, alma mater secretary Janet D’Mello, Jacinta D’Souza, Ida Fernandes, head teachers Lidia Aranha and Sr Lucy Pereira, alumnus and school bus driver Ronald D’Souza, teachers, non-teaching staff, students and their parents were present.
The teacher Vincent Pinto welcomed the gathering. The alma mater secretary B Pundalika Marate proposed vote of thanks.
