Mangaluru: Biradikere in Alape to be developed @ Rs 3.37 crore – MLA J R Lobo

Mangaluru, 18 May 2017: The lakes and nature ponds that sustained drinking water to the people and are now disused will be developed to charge underground water resources and maintain ecology, said MLA J R Lobo.
MLA Lobo was speaking after laying the foundation for developing Bairadikere at Alape, here, on Monday, May 17. The development works will be undertaken @ Rs 3.37 crore jointly by MUDA and minor irrigation department.
The lakes once developed will enable leisurely walk for citizens on evening, while there are plans to lay jogging track and boating facility, said MLA Lobo.
There are plans to develop 8 lakes that are in disused state including Bhatrakere, Kemmarukere, Gujjarakere and Kadrikere, added MLA Lobo.
MUDA president K Suresh Ballal, deputy mayor Rajnish Kapikad, corporators Prakash and Sabita Misquith, Land Tribunal member Denis D’Silva, KSRTC director T K Sudhir, Vishwas Kumar Das, Hameed Kannur, Shobha Keshav, Dr Annayya Kulal and others were present.
