Bantwal: Vittal policemen nab 5 men accused of Treasure hunt at Karopady

Bantwal, 06 Feb 2017: Vittal policemen here on Sunday, February 5, arrested five interstate dacoits who were suspected of involved in digging the courtyard of Vignaraj in Arasalike, at the limits of Karopady, that lies a few kilometers away from Karnataka – Kerala boundary, for finding treasure hidden underneath, on January 24.
The arrested has een identified as 22-year-old Iqbal yane Ikku, resident of Poyyekanda in Kanyana gram panchayat, 29-year-old Mohammed Ali yane Ali Monu, native of Kodla in Karopady gram panchayat, 26-year-old Abbas, resident of Mandiyoor in Kanyana gram panchayat, Ashraf yane LTT Ashraf, resident of Kulalkodi in Kolnad gram panchayat and 19-year-old Ashiq P, resident of Bayakatte Lakshabeedu, Manjeshwar, Kerala.
The police seized Toyota Innova car and Maruti Alto car that they used for committing the crime.
The police launched manhunt for other accused Shafi K, resident of Paivalike, Shafi yane Bottu Shafi from Kerala, Harris Mittanadka and others.
The group of men arrived at Vignaraj’s house on January 25 at 2.00am, tied up the men and dumped in a room. Then, they dug up the spot in front of the courtyard for finding treasure and retreated without success. They also took away DVR of web cam installed at the household.
All the accused were involved in series of crimes both in Kerala and Karnataka.
Bantwal sub-inspector B K Manjayya, Vittal sub-inspector Nagaraj, Beltangady sub-inspector Ravi B S, policemen Balakrishna, Girish, Uday, Siju, Jayakumar, Janardhan, Praveen Rai, Ramesh, Praveen Kumar, Bhavit Rai, Satish, Sampat and Diwakar, drivers Raghuram, Vijayeshwar, Satyaprakash and Yogish were involved in this operation.
