Human values root of education – MLC Ivan D’Souza

Karkala, 17 Dec 2016: The mother tongue and cultural values of hometown has been a great source of inspiration for many persons to achieve the impossible. The education should instill oneness among the student community and need reformed education that adapts to fast changing world. The annual day celebrations provide a platform in exhibiting inherent talent of students. The human values are the root of education, said Karnataka legislative council chief whip Ivan D’Souza.
Ivan was speaking during the annual day celebrations of St Joseph’s education institutions, Belman, near here recently.
He laid emphasis on beginning English classes from Class I in Kannada medium schools without an alternative.
Adani – UPCL CEO Kishore Alva was the chief guest, said that at the competitive world, students need to learn English, as it plays key role in electronic media. Adani – UPCL is developing basic infrastructure in schools in neighboring villages to provide favorable environment for the students to study.
Belman assistant parish priest Fr Joswin P D’Souza, alma mater president Xavier D’Mello, parish council vice president Gregory Menezes were present.
St Joseph’s education institutions correspondent Fr Sunil Joseph Veigas presided the programme and thanked the donors and philanthropists for the support.
The talented student Deepti Nandalike, donor retired Professor Robert D’Souza of NITK – Suratkal, contractor Anthony Mathias, Kishore Alva, open stage donor B Pundalika Marate Shirva, Francis D’Souza were felicitated on the same occasion.
The School head teachers Lucy Pereira and Anita Kamalini, Sr Lynette D’Souza read the annual report. Marate and Haridas Prabhu compered the programme. Chandrashekar C proposed vote of thanks.
