Udupi: Rotary Club-Shirva honors veteran soldiers during Karthika Sambrama

Udupi, 21 Nov 2016: It’s our duty to respect the soldiers who are guarding the borders of our nation. Karthika Sambrama is the worthy event to honor the retired veteran soldiers by Rotary Club – Shirva. It’s the memorable moment to be part of Kartika Sambrama, said Atrady Dinesh Hegde, chairman of Rotary district membership development Committee.
Hegde was speaking during Karthika Sambrama – 2016 that was held at Rotary Club – Shirva auditorium, Bantakal, near here on Saturday, November 19.
Rotary district literacy Committee vice chairman B Pundalika Marate in his introductory address said, ‘We got to express our gratitude to our soldiers who are guarding the borders for us to live in peace and celebrate joyous occasions.’
The army veteran Gopal M Shetty Arasikatte, Bantakal who served in China war, Pak and Bangla war offered motion for the programme, by lighting the lamp.
The retired soldiers Suresh Poojary Panjimar Shirva, Herald Cutinho and Gopal M Shetty were felicitated on the same occasion.
Ambujakshi G Shetty and Carmine Dina D’Souza were present at the dais.
The progressive farmer and Udupi district Rajyotsav Award recipient Raghavendra Nayak was felicitated on the same occasion.
Rotary Club – Shirva Dr Arun Hegde presided the programme.
The zonal assistant governor Dr Gururaj officiated the oath to the newly-joined Rotary members Honnayya Shettigar Shirva, Sudhakar Shenoy Pilar, Dayanand Shetty Dendorkatte and Jayakrishna Alva Padoor.
The college student Nishmita Kalattoor was presented with hearing aids.
Dr Arun welcomed the gathering. Lucas D’Souza, Dattatreya Patkar, Raghupati Ithal and William Machado introduced the veteran soldiers. Rachita Patkar rendered the prayers. Rotary secretary Sunil Cabral proposed vote of thanks.
