Udupi, 10 Sep 2016: Chess is a challenging game for IQ because the player got to use all the faculties of his brain, said Vishwanath, president of St Mary’s College Alumni Association, Shirva, near here.
Vishwanat was speaking after inaugurating Mangalore University inter-college men’s and women’s chess championship held at St Mary’s College, Shirva, near here on Friday September 9. He also recalled the achievement of first ever Indian Master Vishwanat in World Chess Championship.
St Mary’s education institutions correspondent Fr Stany Tauro presided the programme.
St Mary’s College principal Professor Rajan V N welcomed the gathering. State Bank of Mysore manager Vinod J Nazareth, Mangalore University deputy director of physical education Dr Prasanna were present.
St Mary’s College physical education director Venugopal Nonda proposed vote of thanks. Professor Melvyn Castelino compered the programme.
