Karkala, 17 Aug 2016: The primary and high school studies lay the foundation for the future of a student. The need of the hour is efforts should be made to strengthen this, by bringing reforms in curriculum for the sustenance of Kannada schools, said Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alvas Education Foundation®, Moodbidri.
Dr Alva was speaking during valedictory function of Akshara Jatre, education convention that was organized by Vidyashraya Mundkoor, on Dr A P J Abdul Kalam stage of Nana Patekar auditorium of Durgaparameshwari temple, Mundkoor, near here on Monday August 15.
‘The state administration and public instruction department is cheating the people by giving bogus statistics about Kannada medium schools and spending huge money in this regard. It’s owing to the apathy of government officers and their scant disregard for Kannada medium schools, English medium schools are flourishing. In this competitive world, the students studied in Kannada medium schools are cursing themselves. The students studied in Kannada medium are capable of shaping their bright future because Kannada is a rich language,’ said Dr Mohan.
Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka, correspondent of Sri Rama education institutions, Kalladka in Bantwal taluk was the chief guest said, ‘English has limited words than Kannada. Securing top marks will not shape the bright future of a student. One can be fluent in both English and Kannada at the same time,’ said Bhat. He also expressed hope that Sudhakar Shetty Mundkoor’s effort to save Kannada medium schools seems like swimming against the current, but it will be a success.
Nana Patekar, the bollywood actor and a friend of Sudhakar Shetty Mundkoor was felicitated on the same occasion. Patekar has the plans to begin Gurukul in collaboration with Vidyashraya Mundkoor.
