Ragging is expression of cruelty to fellowmen – Dr Bhandary

Mangaluru, 11 Aug 2016: An anti-ragging sensitisation programme was held at K S Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte University for senior students of Allied Health Sciences on August 10.
Addressing the students, Professor Dr Satish Kumar Bhandary, Dean, KSHEMA stressed the need for senior students to be very sensitive to new students joining the professional courses to establish an everlasting bond of friendship. One should also be aware of the bad consequences of ragging and the possible repercussions on the future of the students as laws are very strict in this context. He termed the tendency to rag as an expression of cruelty to fellow human being and should be nipped at bud.
He called upon all the students to report such incidents if they come across any, to their respective staff or institutional anti-ragging Committee at the earliest, without any hesitation.
Professor Dr Kiran Mirajkar, Vice Dean KSHEMA and Professor Dr Rekha Rai, head of department of microbiology were present during the programme.
Professor Dr Sripada G Mehandale, department of anaesthesiology welcomed the gathering. Dr Raghuraj, Associate Professor of radiology proposed vote of thanks.
