Reptiles are indispensable to mankind - Gururaj Sanil

Karkala, 26 Jul 2016: Every living being are dependent on each other in earth. The snakes and other reptiles are friends of human beings in preying on rats thereby protecting crops and also contain several rat-borne diseases. The killing of snakes causes imbalance in eco system, said renowned reptile expert Gururaj Sanil.
Gururaj was speaking during live-demonstration of snakes that was sponsored by Rotary Club of Belman at St Joseph’s School, Belman, near here on Saturday July 23.
He also explained the first aid that got to be done if in case of snake bite. The students handled the live snakes to get rid of their fears.
St Joseph’s parish veteran priest Fr Sunil Joseph Veigas, assistant parish priest Fr Joswin Praveen D’Souza, convent superior Sr Usha Stella, School eco club president Kirtana Risha D’Souza, Rotary members Kiran Shetty, B H Vasant Acharya, Chandrashekar Rao, Dinesh Shetty, Mervin Mendonca, Premanand Shetty and others were present.
Rotary Club – Belman former president Suresh Rao welcomed the gathering. The teacher Pundalika Marate compered the programme. Rotary secretary Alwyn Neri Pinto proposed vote of thanks.
The students presented cultural events on environment as part of the programme.
