Mangaluru: CPI (M) protests against civic authority for ill-state of Rao & Rao Circle

Mangaluru, 22 Jul 2016: CPI (M) staged protest at Rao & Rao Circle here on Thursday July 21, against the civic authority for not completing the repairs on underground drainage.
The concrete road has been dug up for over one-and-a-half month to repairs. The rain water has accumulated in the dug up area that is stinking and poses nightmares to motorists and health hazards to shopkeepers nearby and also pedestrians. A few motorcyclists have fallen into the dug up road and are injured in the process. Despite this, the civic authority have completed the repairs, alleged the protesters.
Addressing the protesters, CPI (M) Mangaluru south Committee secretary Sunil Kumar said that in spite of the municipal administration had taken the decision not to dig up roads in city from June 15 to October 15, the road at Rao & Rao Circle has been dug up to lay underground drainage and the contract has been executed by state-run building arm – Nirmiti Kendra. The work remains incomplete with effluents filled the dug up area.
CPI (M) Mangaluru town Committee member Yogish Jappinamogaru welcomed the gathering. The street venders Association president Santosh R S proposed vote of thanks.
CPI (M) leaders Lingappa Nantoor, Bharati Bolar and Suresh Bajal led the protest.
A memorandum in this regard was handed over to the civic official who arrived at the venue.
