Karkala: Appointment of PT Teacher needs to be mandatory in Pry Schools – K P Shenoy

Karkala, 09 Jul 2016: If the students are trained in sports in their primary schooling, they are capable of competing in national level sports meets. It seems the government or the education department has not taken this seriously. The physical education is introduced in general education for the name sake. It took several decades to prepare over 100 athletes to partake in Olympics – 2016. The need of the hour is government should take physical education seriously by appointing PT instructors in primary schools, said SVT Education Institutions correspondent and social activist K P Shenoy.
Shenoy was speaking after inaugurating info programme on annual sports that was held during the meeting of Karkala taluk physical education teachers and school heads, organized by public instructions department and Karkala block education department at SVT Girls PU College, here on Friday July 8.
He also urged the state authorities to provide sports kit to the talented students to make their mark in national level.
The taluk physical education superintendent Babu Poojary offered info on sports meets and tournaments that were planned for the academic year and also the sponsors.
The education co-ordinator Krishna A presided the programme.
The education co-ordinators Shivanand, Mahabala Naik, teachers Association office bearers Krishna Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Jnanendra Kumar, Ramanand, Annappa, V K Rao were present.
The School head teacher Janakinat welcomed the gathering. Anly M Pervaje proposed vote of thanks. Narendra Kamat compered the programme.
