Changes in traffic movement create confusion on roads
Mangaluru, 26 May 2016: Several motorists were caught unaware as the police in the city have made certain changes in traffic rules at KS Rao Road and Hampankatte on Monday.
A right turn on KS Rao Road towards Sharavu Temple was barricaded and now motorists would have to make a u-turn in front Poonja International. Similarly, the junction at University College was also barricaded for vehicles coming from Ganapati High School. These vehicles will have to take a left turn and then take a U-turn on the Light house Hill Road to reach State Bank.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Uday Nayak informed that the changes were made to avoid criss-cross movement of vehicles at both the junctions as the previous arrangement led to traffic jams. He added that the new changes would ensure a smooth flow of traffic at both the junctions.
However, several motorists were confused due to the changes as there was no prior announcement.
