Theater owners prefer other movies; screening of Namma Kudla - Tulu movie stalled

Mangaluru, 18 April 2016: Tulu movies have difficulty in screening in theaters of Tulunadu owing to competitions from movies in other languages. Namma Kudla, Tulu movie that was premiered a week ago was stalled to screen a Tamil movie. The owners of cinema theaters in Tulunadu at least allow a few shows of Tulu movie along with other movies, said Harish Nayak, Namma Kudla - Tulu movie director.
Addressing the media persons at Hotel Woodlands here on Saturday April 16, during the media conference that was jointly organized by the promoters of Namma Kudla – Tulu movie and Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike, Nayak further said, ‘Namma Kudla – Tulu movie was premiered in 13 theaters across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts including multiplexes on April 8. It was run successfully for a week, but owing to the lobby of movie producers in other languages, it was stalled on April 15,’ said Nayak.
‘There is no unity among Tulu-native-speakers. The theater owners in Tulunadu prefer movies in other language. It calls for unity of Tulu movie producers,’ said Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike founder president Yogish Shetty Jeppu.
