Belman parish priest lauds services of auto rickshaw men

Karkala, 12 April 2016: Auto rickshaw drivers come from poor families who earn their livelihood for sustaining their families. Despite they face difficulties in life; they are helpful in times of great need. The auto rickshaw drivers of Belman are role models for others, said Fr Lawrence B D’Souza, parish priest of St Joseph’s parish, Belman, near here.
Fr D’Souza was speaking during the get-together of auto rickshaw drivers and owners Association held at Belman parish mini hall, here on Monday April 11.
He donated his personal contribution of Rs 10,000 towards the welfare fund of auto rickshaw drivers and owners Association. He also blessed them to be united in serving others.
NRI Arthur D’Souza and couple were the sponsors of this event.
Belman assistant parish priest Fr J B Moras, Karkala taluk auto rickshaw drivers and owners Association president advocate Balakrishna Shetty, secretary Anni Madivala, Udupi district auto rickshaw drivers and owners Association president Santosh, Belman auto rickshaw drives and owners Association president Shivaprasad were present at the dais.
The former auto rickshaw driver Yogish Pai donated Rs 10,000 towards welfare fund.
Vincent D’Souza who donated the cost of roof for auto rickshaw stand was felicitated on the same occasion.
