Udupi: Kasargod Chinna urges Konkans to shun inferiority complex on Konkani

Udupi, 03 Mar 2016: Konkani is a rich language, treasure trove of art, literature, way of life and culture. Despite its distinct features, Konkans are lacking the love for their mother tongue Konkani owing to the influence of other languages. It’s the responsibility of every Konkan to foster Konkani that has been passed on by our ancestors, said Kasargod Chinna, renowned theater artiste, movie actor and former president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy.
Kasargod Chinna was speaking after inaugurating Ghat Ghar Konkani programme that was held at the residence of Purushottam Nayak, Alevoor, near here on Sunday February 28.
Alevoor gram panchayat former president Harish Kini, retired lecturer Srinivas Prabhu, Vasant Haldonkar, Academy member Kamalaksha Shet, Nasasinge temple managing trustee Ramesh Salvankar, Poornaprajna College lecturer Delma, Sadhana Kini, Vittaldas Prabhu, sponsors Arvind Nayak couple were present at the dais.
The young multi-lingual artiste Kusuma Kamat was felicitated on the same occasion.
The children presented variety cultural shows as part of the entertainment.
Madhusudan Nayak, Narasimha Kini, Dattatreya Nayak, Sasibhushan Kini, Swati Nayak and Chandrashekar Nayak were also present.
Anita Gopichand welcomed the gathering. B Anantaram Bhat compered the programme. Akanksha proposed vote of thanks.
