M’luru: After assault case in Bantwal taluk, DC issues prohibitory orders till Nov 15

Mangaluru, 13 Nov 2015: At the backdrop of an untoward incident in Bantwal taluk, reported on Thursday November 12, Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Indian Penal Code with effect from Thursday November 12 at 10.00pm toSunday November 15 at 10.00pm.
The district administration announced holiday on Saturday November 14 to schools and colleges in the district.
Harish, son of Srinivas Poojary, a resident of Manihalla that comes under the limits of Navoor gram panchayat died in a knife assault at the limits of Bantwal rural station on Thursday November 12. His kith and kin were awarded Rs 5 lac compensation by the state administration.
The additional police force has been deployed in Bantwal and Puttur taluk from Uttar Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagaluru and neighboring Kerala.
ADGP Alok Mohan, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ibrahim have taken all measures to maintain law and order by visiting sensitive locations in Bantwal, Beltangady and Puttur taluks. IGP has been camping in Bantwal to oversea the situation.
