Swastya Sankalpa Programme held at Bantakal Engg College

Udupi, 04 Nov 2015: National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross (YRC) units and Rotaract Club of SMVITM, Bantakal, near here, in association with Sri Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Udupi organized a guest lecture on Swastya Sankalpa programme at the institute premises recently.
Devadas Hebbar, former president of Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagrathi Vedike, Udupi and Sowjanya, administrator of Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, Udupi, delivered the talks during the programme.
The highlights of Hebbar’s talk included unhealthy habits and how to get rid of them, alcoholic addiction and awareness on road safety. He also explained how awareness programmes and de-addiction camps would help alcoholics to save themselves from the clutches of alcoholism and other forms of substance abuse. Delivering the talk to the students, Sowjanya explained the importance of health and gave some tips and guidelines on health and protect oneself from various diseases.
Professor Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal; Professor Dr A Ganesha, dean (academics); Nagaraj Rao, NSS programme officer; Kishore Kumar Aroor, Rotaract Club co-ordinator; Uma U and Geetha N, regional in-charge and in-charge respectively of Sri Dharmasthala Rural Development Project were present on the occasion.
More than 200 students of SMVITM attended the programme. Arun H R welcomed the gathering. Vasanth Pai proposed vote of thanks. Nishmitha Y R compered the programme.
