Kannada Rajyotsav held with pomp & gaiety

Bantwal, 02 Nov 2015: Although Karnataka statehood celebrations are held with pomp and gaiety; there lies intolerance among the people of different community that would hinder the collective progress, said retired Professor Rajamani Ramakunja.

 

Professor Rajamani was speaking during taluk Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations that were organized by national festival celebrations Committee at B C Road, here on Sunday November 1.

 

The movement of separate Tulu state is gaining ground despite the opposition of majority of Kannadigas. The massive struggle against Yettinahole project has not reached the reigning government to stall the project altogether. The need of the hour is the reigning government should safeguard the just causes of people, said Professor Rajamani.

 

 

The urgent need is to instill the love of mother tongue Kannada among the children, in order to remain in Karnataka and never heed to divisive forces. There is strength in unity because division brings destruction and hatred, advised Professor Rajamani.

 

The town councilor Vasanti Chandappa presided the programme.

 

TP president Yashwant Deraje, BUDA chairman Pius Rodrigues, TP CEO Cyprian Miranda, municipal chief officer Sudhakar, Tulu Sahitya Academy member D M Kulal, block education officer Sheshashayana Karinja, child welfare project officer Mallika, Bantwal Tahsildar Purandar Hegde were present at the dais.

Colorful procession to mark Karnataka Rajyotsav was held with police, home guards, NCC, Bharat Seva Dal, scouts, guides, bull bull and students of different schools before the stage programme.

 

Tahsildar Purandar Hegde hoisted the Karnataka flag. The police forces displayed attractive march-past on the occasion.
