Bantwal: Locals picket at site of laying gas pipeline on Sornad – Annalike Road

Bantwal, 27 Oct 2015: The locals picketed at the site of laying gas pipeline on the main road between Sornad – Annalike, near here on Monday October 26 by the contractor.

 

The contractor – A S Pipeline Enterprises dug up huge trenches to lay pipeline that would supply gas from Mangaluru to Sholapua for HPCL. The locals led by TP member Vasant Kumar Annalike enquired the contractor for the ongoing work, and learned that the contractor did not have permission issued by the local gram panchayat or public works department. Meanwhile, Vasant checked with public works department engineer Umesh about the authenticity of work that seemed to be unauthorized.

HPCL officials who arrived at the spot said that Rs 6 lac has been deposited at public works department, Mangaluru and offered assurances of re-asphalting the road when the locals dispersed from the spot.
