Bannanje Raja remanded to 7 days police custody

 

Mangaluru, 09 Sep 2015: Bannanje Raja who was in Hiriyadka sub jail for a day in judicial custody was produced before Principal Judge and CJM Court, where he was remanded to police custody for 7 days on September 8.

 

This is in connection to a case of attempt to extort a businessman named Anand Shetty from Santhekatte, in 2013. Raja’s men had kept forth a demand of Rs 10 lakh from the businessman.

 

Hearing the argument in the case, the Court has remanded Raja to police custody till September 14.

 

Though a charge sheet was submitted in 2013 in this case, the five accused in the case were later out on bail, while Raja, the mastermind behind the case was only arrested recently. Two others involved in the case-Siraj and Sameer are absconding.
