Bantwal: Garbage dumped near Nandavara poses health hazard to students

Bantwal, 18 June 2015: The heap of garbage is dumped besides the road that links Nandavara with Panemangaluru near here. The rain has rotten the leftover food that is emitting foul stench all over. It has become a breeding for mosquitoes as discarded tender coconuts, plastic bottles are aplenty at the spot. The pedestrians had to walk on the effluents. Thousands of people are depending on this road for their daily needs. It poses health hazard to the people in the neighbourhood.
The garbage is dumped along the stretch of road from Sharada High School to SLNP School in Panemangaluru. The effluents form the garbage is flowing into the culvert that joins Netravati River. There are playgrounds of 2 schools along the road, while the students and others are playing at these grounds threatening the outbreak of epidemic.
The correspondents of both the schools plead the state environment minister B Ramanath Rai to clear the mound of garbage that poses health hazard for the students. Their several pleas to the town council also did not heed any results.
The general public cautioned the civic body to aggravate the protest by forming human chain urging the authorities to clear the garbage dump.
