Udupi: Rural talent to shine in Shirva with state-of-art cricket ground – Vinay Hegde

Udupi, 11 May 2015: The renowned international cricketers Dhoni and others are come from rural villages. Vidhyavardhaka Sangha promoted education institutions has spacious sports grounds in Shirva, near here to provide better opportunities for up-and-coming cricketers. Besides cricket, it will provide football court and indoor stadium, said N Vinay Hegde, chancellor of Nitte University and president of Vidhyavardaka Sangha® Shirva.
Vinay was speaking after inaugurating season ball cricket ground, developed by alumni association of Hindu PU College promoted by Vidhyavardaka Sangha® Shirva near here on Sunday May 10.
The former Indian past bowler Abe Kuruvilla (Mumbai) was the chief guest after unveiling cricket logo lauded the alma mater of Hindu PU College, Shirva for laying the cricket ground at a time when majority of students forget their schools. The promising cricketers of 16 years put in their hard work and love cricket whilst studying can become successful cricketers, said Kuruvilla. He also hoped the promising cricketers will emerge from rural area of Shirva to make their debut to represent state and nation.
Vinay and Vidhyavardaka Sangha correspondent V Subbayya Hegde felicitated the donor of cricket ground Sooda Karunakar Shetty on the same occasion.
Mumbai entrepreneur Sooda Karunakar Shetty, UAE entrepreneur Kalattoor Shekar Shetty, Kutyar Anjarumane Narayan Shetty, Udupi district Cricket Association secretary Balakrishna Parkala, KCA Mangaluru convener Manohar Amin, rretired principal K Rajgopal, principal Sundar Mera, advocate Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, alma mater president Sacchidanand Hegde Sorkala were present at the dais.
Nadibettu Nityanand Hegde delivered the introductory address. Nikas Ali Brahmavar compered the programme. Kutyar Kishore Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering. Kandesh Bhaskar Shetty proposed vote of thanks.
